Acceptable Behaviour Policy
Last Updated: November 2025
Conscious Mind Centre is dedicated to providing respectful, high-quality psychological care in a safe, professional, and welcoming environment. Our clinicians, administrative staff, and associates are committed to treating every patient with dignity, courtesy, respect, and compassion. We ask that you extend the same respect to our team, other patients, and anyone present within our premises.
We do not provide crisis or emergency mental health support. If you require urgent assistance, please contact emergency services on 000, present to your nearest emergency department, or call Lifeline on 13 11 14.
Policy Statement
We maintain a zero-tolerance position on violent, threatening, aggressive, discriminatory, or abusive behaviour. Any individual who engages in such behaviour may be immediately discharged from our service without prior warning and without the opportunity for appeal.
The following behaviours constitute prohibited conduct:
- Physical violence, attempted violence, or threats of physical harm
- Verbal abuse, intimidation, shouting, or threats toward staff, volunteers, clinicians, or other patients
- Discriminatory remarks or conduct related to race, gender, sexuality, disability, age, religion, or other protected characteristics
- Derogatory comments, slurs, insults, or demeaning language directed at any person on the premises
- Sexual harassment, sexualised comments, or unwanted physical contact
- Deliberate damage to clinic property or attempts to interfere with service provision
- Any behaviour creating an immediate or genuine safety risk to staff, other patients, or the integrity of the clinic environment
Other Inappropriate Conduct
Other forms of inappropriate behaviour such as repeated rudeness, boundary violations, disrespectful communication, or non-aggressive disruptions will be handled through a structured process. This may include a formal discussion, behavioural guidance, and a written warning, before any decision regarding service discharge is considered.
Service Discharge
If you engage in any violent, threatening, aggressive, discriminatory, or abusive conduct listed in this policy:
- You will be discharged from our service immediately.
- You will receive written confirmation within 2 business days, outlining the behaviour that resulted in discharge.
- We will provide a referral back to your GP or original referrer to support continuity of care and to determine the most appropriate service for your needs.
- If an immediate safety risk exists, we may request that you leave the premises, contact emergency services (000), or decline future appointments.
This policy ensures the safety, wellbeing, and therapeutic integrity of our clinic for all patients and staff.
Complaints and Feedback
If you believe a discharge decision or behavioural management action was applied in error, you may submit written feedback to our Practice Manager at admin@consciousmindcentre.com.au.
Your right to access care is always considered in balance with our responsibility to maintain a safe environment for patients, clinicians, and staff.
